Dr. Harry E. Dawson, Jr. is a native Georgian, born in Augusta and raised in Rome. His father was a general practitioner, his mother a nurse, and his grandfather and his grandmother were also physicians. With that type of background, it's little wonder that he chose medicine as his future career before his sixth birthday. After graduating from Darlington School in Rome in 1960, he spent the next 16 years achieving his dream.

· Attended both the University of Georgia and Emory University graduating with a BA in biology and a minor in chemistry.

· Obtained his MD degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1969.

· Completed four years of General Surgery training at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Ga. and the Medical College of Georgia Hospital System in Augusta, Ga.

· Completed three years of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas where he was also on the medical school faculty.

· Began practice in his home town of Rome, Georgia in 1976 and became board certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1978.

· Became a fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1978. He belongs to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Georgia Society of Plastic Surgeons of which he is a past president, the International Congress of Clinical Plastic Surgeons, and several other national,state, and local medical organizations.

  Dr. Dawson married his wife Frances when he was a senior medical student and they were married for 35 years until her untimely death in 2003. Dr Dawson has four daughters and eleven beautiful grandchildren. Dr. Dawson's passions include his love and devotion to his family, his tireless pursuit of his life's dream of Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery, and a particular passion for flying having soloed when he was sixteen years old. He has a private pilots license and is IFR (instrument) rated and flies a Cessna 185 and an antique aircraft from a grass airstrip behind his home. Dr. Dawson married the former Julianne Peek of Cedartown, Georgia in early 2006 and they reside on their farm 10 miles south of Rome.
